Powers Advances to Round of 32 in USTA Regionals

ITHACA, N.Y. - Junior Marc Powers, the No. 6 seed, won his first match in the USTA Regionals after receiving a bye in the first round. Powers won his match against Harvard's Sean Chaudhuri in a quick straight set win (6-1,6-2). Powers is the lone Bulldog to remain in the tournament on Sunday. Powers will take on Princeton's Matt Siow in the Round of 16.

Three other Bulldogs advanced to the second round of the tournament on Saturday: sophomore Kyle Dawson defeated  Colgate's Bobby Berkowitz (6-4; 6-2); senior captain Erik Blumenkranz bested Hofstra's Antonio Pena (6-0, 6-2); junior Zachary Krumholz defeated FDU's Yuri Gricheno (6-4; 6-7 (4); 6-3).

In doubles, No. 9 seeds Blumenkranz and senior Joel Samaha won their first round match against Hofstra's Adrien Bailly and Chris Damion (8-3). The duo fell in a tiebreak (9-8(6)) to Columbia's Ashok Narayana and Max Schnur in the next round.
