Yale to Face Elite Competition Throughout the Year
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's tennis team's official schedule for 2017-18 was announced on Friday, and there are a number of exciting fixtures to look forward to. Below are the names and dates of the season's tournaments:
Penn Invitational (Sept. 15 - 17)
Ivy Plus (Sept. 22 - 24) [Home]
ITA All-American Championships (Sept. 30 - Oct. 2)
ITA Northeast Regional Championships (Oct. 18 - 21) [Home]
Connecticut State Championships (Nov. 3 - 5) [Home]
ECAC Indoor Championships (Feb. 16 - 18) [Home] – Team event
The Bulldogs are also set to play a number of competitive opponents outside of their conference this season, including familiar foes like St. John's (March 31) and William & Mary (Feb. 24) and new opponents like Gonzaga (March 17) and Ohio State (Jan. 27). The team's spring break trip to California will also feature matches against Loyola Marymount (March 21) and UC Irvine (March 16).
As usual, the Ivy League season will fill the team's final eight fixtures; home matches this year will be against Dartmouth (Apr. 6), Cornell (Apr. 21) and Columbia (Apr. 22). The season finale will be an away match against Brown on Apr. 28.
With so many elite opponents coming up in 2017-18, the Elis should have plenty of opportunities to prove themselves as one of the Northeast Region's most talented squads. It is likely the final month of the season, however, that will be most important to the Bulldogs as they aim to claim an Ivy League championship for the first time since 1993.
