Boston College Defeats Yale 4-3

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Yale fell to 3-2 Sunday after losing to Boston College 4-3 in a consolation match at the ECAC Championships. The Bulldogs won the doubles point in the loss.

Playing No. 2 doubles, senior Jeff Dawson and freshman Erik Blumenkranz defeated Brian Garber and Alex Skinner 8-6. The doubles team of junior Connor Dawson and senior Josh Lederman came up with an 8-4 victory over Sam Wagner and Akash Muppidi of Boston College.

Yale managed to win singles matches at No. 2 and No. 6 singles. At the No. 2 singles spot, senior Michael Caldwell battled to a 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Akash Muppidi. Senior Tom Santoro rolled to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Brandon Wong at No. 6 singles.

Three of Yale's four losses came in three sets. Jeff Dawson made his match about as close as it could be as he lost to Thomas Nolan at No. 1 singles 7-5, 5-7, 7-6. His brother Connor Dawson also went three sets before losing 6-7, 6-1, 6-2 to Erik Kreutzer at No. 3 singles. The story was the same for Blumenkranz at No. 5 singles where he lost to Brian Locklear 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.
