Yale Defeats Stony Brook 6-1 to Advance at ECACs

The No. 5 seeded Yale Bulldogs soundly defeated Stony Brook at the ECAC Division I Men's Tennis Invitational Tournament, besting the Seawolves 6-1 in the match held in Flushing Meadow, NY.

Yale's Ryan Murphy defeated Michael Crooks 6-3, 6-0 to win at No. 2 singles, while Milosz Gudzowski bested Tal Meir 6-2, 6-0 and Johnny Lu was victorious over Jean-Francois Robitaille 6-4, 6-2.

Matthew Feldman and Joe Vellanikaran rounded out Yale's 5 singles victories, both in straight sets. Brandon Wai, who has won two individual tournaments this season, fell in three sets to Jan Krejci, 4-6, 6-4, (10-5).

In doubles action, Murphy/Wai and Lu/Feldman were both winners on the day by 8-6 and 8-5 scores, respectively.

Yale will take on No. 4 Princeton tomorrow. The Tigers dispatched Boston College 5-2 in the opening round of play.
