Hanover, NH - The Yale men's tennis team continued their fifth consecutive day of play today at the ITA Northeastern Regional hosted by Dartmouth. Once again, Brandon Wai '07 made a strong showing and emerged from 127 other singles players to advance to the semi-finals.
No. 1 seed Wai defeated No. 9 seed Eric Thomas of Brown in the quarterfinals. Wai easily slammed Thomas, defeating Thomas in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Wai will compete against No. 3 seed Jason Pinsky of Penn in the semi-finals at 9 am on Tues., Oct. 25. The finals will also be held on Oct. 25 between the winner of the Wai-Pinsky match and the winner of the semi-final match between No. 4 seed Mark Barry of Penn State and No. 2 seed Arvid Puranen of Virginia Tech.
In doubles action, No. 10 seed Wai and Josh Lederman `09 faced stiff competition from No. 4 seed Dan Hanegby and Phil Charm of Brown. The Brown team downed Yale 8-5 to advance to the finals.
