Meet Marks End of Indoor Season

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Bulldogs will travel to Boston this weekend for the indoor IC4A Championships. They will compete alongside several athletes from the Division I schools in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regions who have qualified for the IC4As based on performance standards. The meet, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday at Boston University, will wrap up the indoor season for the Bulldogs.

Head coach David Shoehalter has high expectations for both freshman Mike Levine and senior Eric DePalo after their exceptional performance at indoor Heptagonals Championships last weekend. After a huge PR at Heptagonals that qualified him for IC4As, Levine is looking strong in the weight throw. DePalo also had his best performance of the season in the pole vault last week and should perform well at IC4As.

"Both Eric DePalo and Mike Levine had great performances at the Heps but there's more there. I'm looking forward to seeing them end their indoor seasons with personal bests," Shoehalter said.

The Bulldogs will compete in both the 4x800-meter relay and the distance medley relay this weekend. Those relay teams should have strong contributions from senior Chris Labosky, junior Matt Bogdan as well as others. Labosky should provide strength in the relays, coming off both a win and a season best in the 1,000-meter run at Heptagonals.

The 4x400 meter relay team should also prove competitive, with senior David Soiles, juniors Marty Evans and Chris Stanley and sophomore Matt Bieszard. Both Evans and Bieszard have been posting sub-50 times throughout the season.

The IC4As also give the opportunity for the Bulldogs to end the indoor season on a strong note.

"It's' the final meet of the indoor season and will set the tone for outdoors," Shoehalter said.

Saturday's competition kicks off with the heptathlon 55-meter dash at 11 a.m. and ends with the preliminaries of the 4x400-meter relay at 4:50 p.m. Final events on Saturday include the pole vault and the weight throw. A complete schedule can be found here. Results will be posted on and after the meet.
