Labosky Qualifies for Nationals
Steeplechase Postponed to Saturday
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Chris Labosky's phenomenal season continued as he qualified for the NCAA National Championships in the 800-meter run at the NCAA East Regional on Friday night. The Bulldogs also finished their second day of competition with a regional debut from junior Marty Evans in the 200-meter dash. Senior Alex Harris and junior Matt Bogdan were scheduled to compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, but inclement weather postponed the race to Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
On top of qualifying for the national meet, Labosky also broke the record he had previously set this season for all-time outdoor with a new PR of 1:47.74. Although he was trailing the rest of the field at the 400-meter mark, Labosky worked the last lap to place fifth in his heat and 10th overall. The top three times out of three heats and the next three fastest times advanced to nationals.
Junior Marty Evans also competed in the 200-meter dash and placed 41st in the preliminaries with a time of 21.72.
In addition to the duo of Harris and Bogdan in the steeplechase, freshman Mike Levine will also compete in the discus at 9:30 a.m. More information about the meet and a complete schedule can be found at ncaa.com. Results will be posted on Yalebulldogs.com and flashresults.com after the meet.
