Four Bulldogs Named to All-Ivy Team

Performances from Heptagonals Earn Honors

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The men's distance medley relay team of senior John Van Deventer, junior Julian Sheinbaum, sophomore Christopher Ramsey and freshman James Shirvell earned second team All-Ivy honors for their second-place finish at indoor Heptagonals Championships last weekend. Shirvell also received second team All-Ivy honors for his runner-up finish in the 1,000-meter run. All-Ivy selections were announced on Monday.

The distance medley team ran a season best of 9:50.44 last Sunday, the fourth fastest time in the history of indoor Heptagonals and No. 7 all-time Yale indoor. Only Princeton currently holds a faster time in the league this season.

Shirvell also ran a PR of 2:23.85, the fifth fastest time for all-time indoor Heptagonals. Shirvell has already made a huge impact on the middle distance in his first year with the Bulldogs, winning the 1,000-meter run at the Giegengack Invitational and the 800-meter run at Dartmouth-Columbia.

The first-place finisher in each event earned first team All-Ivy honors, while the runner-up finishers earned second team All-Ivy honors.
