Four Bulldogs Qualify for NCAA Regional
Meet Serves as Preliminary Round for National Championship
NEW NAVEN, Conn. – Four Bulldogs will compete at the NCAA East Regional based on their top-48 performances in the region this season. The regional meet will be hosted by Indiana University on May 26-28 in Bloomington, Ind.
Senior John Van Deventer qualified in the 1500m with his 3:43.34 performance from last week's Swarthmore Last Chance Meet, setting No. 2 all-time Yale outdoor. He brings in the seventh-fastest time in the regional and will race in the preliminaries on Thursday, May 26 at 5:00 p.m. The top five runners from each heat and the next four fastest times will advance to the qualifying round for the national championship on Saturday, May 28 at 6:45 p.m.
Senior Matt Bogdan and junior Nathan Richards will both compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday, May 27 at 9:10 p.m. Richards and Bogdan are seeded 21st (8:54.15) and 30th (8:58.09), respectively. The top three runners from each heat and the next three fastest times will qualify for the national championship.
Sophomore Mike Levine will compete in the discus entering as the 19th seed with a throw of 54.28m. Levine will compete in the discus on Saturday, May 28 at 5 p.m. The top twelve throwers will qualify for the national championship.
