Men's Track and Field Team Named All-Academic

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - On Wednesday, the Yale men's track and field team was selected by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as an All-Academic team for the 2010-2011 season. Teams with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 were chosen; the Bulldogs had a cumulative average of 3.40. Yale was one of 90 honorees, including six other Ivy League schools.

The Bulldogs' work in the classroom complemeted their success on the track and field this season. The team finished fifth at the outdoor Ivy League Heptagonal Championships and 18th at the outdoor IC4A Championships. Additionally, four indidivuals qualified to compete at the NCAA First Rounds in May. Matt Bogdan '11 and senior Nathan Richards competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, junior Mike Levine competed in the discus throw, and John Van Deventer '11 competed in the 1,500-meter run. 

Last week, Bogdan and Van Deventer were also selected as individual members of the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field team.
