  • Five Elis, Team Earn All-Academic Honors

    Five members of the Yale men's track and field team earned All-Academic honors from the USTFCCCA this season, and the team earned All-Academic honors as well, capping an impressive season on and off the field.
  • Bulldog Alums Take On USATF Championships
    June 21, 2017
    Three of Yale’s finest athletes will hit the track at the USATF Outdoor Championships this weekend in sunny Sacramento, Calif. Middle-distance athletes Kate Grace ’11 and James Randon ’17 will compete in the 1,500-meter run while Kira Garry ’15 will be featured in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. All three Bulldog alums will compete back-to-back-to-back in the first rounds of their respective events on Thursday evening: Garry will compete at 7:13 p.m. PST, and Randon and Grace will compete in the 1,500-meter run at 7:44 p.m. and 8:05 p.m. PST, respectively.
  • Reinhart Closes Out Season in Eugene

    Yale sophomore Trevor Reinhart ran one of his best times of the season in the semifinals of the 1500-meter run in Eugene, Ore. last night, but finished less than a second away from qualifying for the event championships. Although he did not advance to the championships, his race marks the second consecutive year that the Bulldogs will finish out their season at the NCAA Championships, signaling the strength of the team over the past two seasons.
  • Reinhart to Compete at NCAA Championships

    Yale sophomore Trevor Reinhart is traveling to Eugene, Ore., this week, where he is scheduled to compete in the NCAA Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Reinhart was the sole athlete to qualify from the men’s track and field team to the NCAA Championships. He will be competing in the 1500-meter run.
  • Reinhart Advances to NCAA Championships

    Sophomore Trevor Reinhart advanced to the NCAA Championships in the 1500-meters on the final day of competition at the East Prelims. He was the sole Bulldog to qualify to the championships, which will be held June 7-10 in Eugene, Ore. 
  • Randon and Reinhart Qualify to NCAA Quarterfinals

    On the first day of the NCAA East Prelims on Thursday, senior James Randon and sophomore Trevor Reinhart advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals in the 1500-meter run. This is Randon's second consecutive year to advance to the quarterfinal meet.
  • Six Elis Ready to Compete at NCAA East Prelims

    The Yale men’s track and field team will have six athletes in competition at the NCAA East Preliminaries in Lexington, Ky., this weekend. The six, who qualified by having top-48 marks in their respective events over the course of the season, will compete this weekend to advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championships. This is the second consecutive year to qualify to the prelims for four out of the six Bulldogs, and their previous experience should prove beneficial to them heading into this weekend’s meet.
  • Yale Honors Six Seniors and One Team with Awards at Senior Student-Athlete Reception

    Six seniors and one team were honored by the Yale Athletics Department with awards at the annual senior student-athlete reception Saturday afternoon at the Lanman Center in Payne Whitney Gymnasium. The men’s fencing team earned the Brodhead Award for highest team grade point average. Emily Barnes (Louisville, Colo.) of the women’s cross country and track & field teams and Jackson Stallings (Moore, Okla.) of the football team were the recipients of the Ford Student-Athlete Community Outreach Award. Barnes and Frederick Muth (Los Angeles, Calif.) of the men’s fencing team were the recipients of the Kiphuth Student-Athlete Distinction Award. Mackenzie Franklin (Austin, Texas) of the women’s swimming & diving team and Denzell Jobson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) of the men’s track & field team were the recipients of the Meyer Humanitarian Award. Robin Molen-Grigull (Sydney, Australia) of the heavyweight crew team was the recipient of the Amanda Walton Award.
  • Hayden, Randon Share Mallory Award

    John Hayden, a National Hockey League player and former collegiate all-conference player, and record-breaking runner James Randon have been selected as co-recipients of the 2017 William Neely Mallory Award, the most prestigious athletic award given to a senior male at Yale. The award was presented today at Class Day ceremonies by athletics director Tom Beckett.
  • Six Bulldogs Qualify to NCAA East Prelims

    Six members of the Yale men’s track and field team qualified for the NCAA East Preliminaries this weekend in Lexington, Kentucky. Qualification is based on the season-best marks of each athlete in their respective event, with the top 48 in the region qualifying for the regional preliminary meet. The results of the Prelims determine who advances to the quarterfinals and, eventually, the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
  • Randon Breaks Yale Record in 1500-Meter Run

    Senior James Randon broke his own Yale record in the 1500-meter run at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier at Swarthmore College yesterday, running a blistering 3:37.93 in the event.
  • Houston, Lomogda Earn All-East Honors

    Junior Adam Houston and freshman Jonathan Lomogda each earned All-East honors after a second-place and seventh-place finish, respectively, in the 5000-meter run.
  • Houston Takes Second at IC4A Championships

    After two days of competition at the IC4A Championships in Princeton this weekend, junior Adam Houston leads the men’s track and field team with a second-place finish in the 5000-meter run. The Bulldogs currently sit at 7th in the team rankings with ten total points.

  • Gomes Named 2017-18 Team Captain

    At the end-of-the-year banquet for the Yale men’s track and field team, junior Paedyn Gomes was voted by his teammates to serve as next season’s team captain. The selection is one of the high points of the banquet, at which Gomes also won the Gardner Millett Award for sportsmanship, courage, and inspiration.
  • Bulldogs Prepare for IC4A Championships

    Fourteen Yale men’s track and field athletes will likely compete at the IC4A/ECAC Championships at Princeton this weekend. The meet begins on Friday and runs through Sunday, and brings together athletes from schools around the East Coast. It is also the last chance for individuals to put up qualifying times for the NCAA East Preliminary Round, which will take place next weekend.
  • Eleven Elis Claim All-Ivy Honors

    This Tuesday, an outstanding 11 Elis were recognized for their exceptionally strong performances at this weekend’s Heptagonal Championships. While junior Paedyn Gomes and both the 4x100-meter and 4x800-meter relays earned second-team All-Ivy honors, senior captain Marc-André-Alexandre and the 4x400-meter relay team earned first-team All-Ivy honors.
  • Alexandre Wins Track Athlete of the Meet, 4x400m Wins Title on Final Day of Heps

    Senior Marc-Andre Alexandre was named most valuable men’s track athlete on the final day of the Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonals today at Yale. Alexandre helped score 20 points for the Bulldogs, taking first in the 400-meter dash and anchoring the first-place 4x400-meter relay team. Yale finished in sixth with 63 points.
  • Laut Leads Bulldogs on First Day of Heps

    On the first day of competition at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, sophomore Austin Laut scored four points for the Bulldogs with a fourth-place finish in the pole vault. After a full day of competition, Yale stands in 7th place with 4 points. Cornell currently holds first place with 39 points and Harvard is in second with 24.
  • Bulldogs Poised to Host Heps This Weekend

    The Yale Bulldogs will host the outdoor Ivy League Heptagonal Championships this Saturday and Sunday at Dewitt Cuyler Complex in New Haven. This historic meet brings together all eight Ivy League teams to compete for the Ivy League Outdoor Track & Field title, which was won last year by Cornell with an Ivy League-record 211 points. This year’s Heps bring in the top competitors in the league, including several Yale athletes who have turned in some of the top performances in the league this season.

  • Bulldogs Post Multiple Top 5 Finishes at Springtime Invitational

    Sophomore Jimmy Shih led the day for the Bulldogs at the Yale Springtime Invitational today, finishing in first and second place in the triple jump and long jump respectively. The invitational was the Bulldogs’ last before they host the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships next weekend.

    The Yale men’s track and field team will host its last regular-season meet of the year this Sunday at Dewitt Cuyler Complex, the Yale Springtime Invitational. This meet is the last chance for many Bulldogs to qualify for the IC4A Championships, which will take place May 12-14.

    Sophomore Austin Laut took fourth in the pole vault at the Virginia Challenge today, making him the Bulldogs' top finisher through the first day of competition. In one of the fastest and most competitive meets of the season, the Bulldogs got off to a strong start, breaking several personal records.

    The Yale men’s track and field team will split its athletes across three meets this weekend. Several of the Bulldogs’ top sprinters will compete at the War Eagle Invitational at Auburn University, several distance runners will be at the Virginia Relays, and an array of athletes across events will compete at the Princeton Larry Ellis Invitational.
  • McIntyre Leads Bulldogs with Two Top-Two Finishes at Harvard

    Sophomore Alex McIntyre scored six points to lead the Bulldogs’ effort at the Harvard-Yale meet on Saturday in Cambridge. The distance runners and jumpers combined for 30 of Yale’s 50 points, taking the top two spots in both the 800-meter and 1500-meter runs and six top-three finishes in the various jumping events. With its strongest sprinters sitting the day out, Yale lost to Harvard 113-50.
  • Bulldogs Prepare to Take on Harvard

    The Yale men’s track and field team will travel to Cambridge this Saturday to take on rival Harvard in the annual Harvard-Yale track meet. The Bulldogs and Crimson teamed up last weekend in their 24-16 defeat of Oxford and Cambridge, but things won’t be so friendly in this weekend’s head-to-head matchup. Yale beat Harvard 83-80 in last year’s meet.

    The Harvard-Yale team blew Oxford and Cambridge out of the water 24-16 at the 46th biennial Harvard-Yale Oxford-Cambridge meet on Saturday. The Yale men's team contributed 9 points to the effort, with the Bulldogs looking particularly strong in the sprint events.

    The Yale men’s track and field team will host the 46th iteration of the Harvard-Yale Oxford-Cambridge Meet this weekend at Dewitt Cuyler field in New Haven. The storied biennial meet pits the Harvard and Yale teams together against their counterparts from across the pond, Oxford and Cambridge. The Harvard-Yale team has won the vast majority of the meets held since 1894, including the last three straight, and is raring to go.
