NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's cross country and track and field program has announced its incoming first-year class for the 2018-2019 seasons. In total, 11 athletes will be joining the Bulldogs' effort, including six distance runners and five athletes to compete as sprinters, jumpers or throwers. Following a handful of successful seasons by the Bulldogs, these athletes are joining a rapidly-improving team and will enter this year looking to contribute to the journey for an Ivy League team title.

The incoming first-year class is not only well decorated on the track, but also in the classroom. The group includes student-athletes who have won state championships, set state records and competed in international competitions on the track, and are also national merit finalists, served as school presidents and received numerous academic scholarships as students. Their impact on the team will exceed athletic ability, as they will also be successful students and peers outside of practice and competition – in classrooms and around campus.

In the past, first-years have proven to be competitive for the Bulldogs at big meets, so these incoming athletes will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact as early as their first season. Last season, Ekrem Ayhan scored at Ivy Heps outdoors as a first-year in the 400m dash, and during the 2017 season, Vincent Vaughns placed third in the 200m dash at Ivy Heps indoors as a first-year.

These athletes are the future of the Yale program, and each individual is listed below along with a description, including his event(s) and accomplishments.
