PRINCETON, N.J. – The Yale men's track and field team finished runners-up at today's Harvard-Yale-Princeton meet, hosted by Princeton at the Jadwin Gymnasium. The Bulldogs scored 47 points with Princeton scoring 119 and Harvard 15. Leading the way for the Bulldogs were Nick Dahl with his victory in the mile run, Austin Laut with his win in the pole vault and the 4x800m relay team of Dahl, Will Laird, Robert Miranda and Allen Siegler, taking home the crown.

The Bulldogs got off to a hot start with electric performances in the mile run – Dahl took the lead into the bell lap and never looked back, running away with the win and a time of 4:11.71. Robert Miranda and Cameron Wyman finished third and fifth, respectively, with both setting new personal records in the event. Next on the track were Juma Sei (7.02), Alex Young (7.03), Kyle Macauley (7.04), Phil Zuccaro (7.20) and Ekrem Ayhan (7.21) in the 60m dash; Sei and Young finished third and fourth, respectively, scoring for the Bulldogs. Connor Hill and Chris Colbert placed second and fourth, with times of 50.03 and 50.80, respectively, showing strong progress in the 400m dash.

Fergal Burnett Small and Jackson Chapman also dished out a two-four punch in the 500m dash, running times of 1:07.07 and 1:09.18. James Lewis, Kohl Swift and Austin Stoner took on a tight field in the 800m run, as Lewis came away with third place and a time of 1:56.25. In the men's 1,000m run, Siegler ran a gritty race, battling with two Princeton tigers and ultimately taking third place with a time of 2:29.98. Hugh Sadler and Alex Whittaker also competed in the 1,000m run, finishing sixth and seventh. Zuccaro sped to a third-place finish in the 200m dash, running a time of 22.55, just getting nipped for second by one-hundreth of a second. The final individual race on the track for the Bulldogs was the 3,000m run led by a stacked Princeton squad. Harrison Smith (8:30.46), Charlie Gardner (8:31.98), Jonathan Lomogda (8:32.26), Brendan Murray (8:34.63) and Patrick Perry (8:38.33) finished fifth through ninth in the 3,000m run.

With Dahl as the lead leg, the 4x800m relay team took an early lead and never gave it up, eventually winning the event with Laird, Miranda and Siegler rounding out the team. The Bulldogs' 4x400m relay team of Ayhan, Colbert, Hill and Sei charged over the final lap, but ultimately did not have enough space to catch the Princeton team, finishing second.

Jack Dunn and Andrew Rochon finished back-to-back in the weight throw with respective marks of 16.33m and 15.57m. Dunn's throw is a new personal record for him. Rochon returned for the shot put with a fifth-place throw of 14.81. Darius Jing and Jimmy Shih took to the runway, finishing third and sixth in the long jump with respective marks of 6.90m and 6.44m. Shih later finished runner-up in the triple jump with a mark of 14.35m. CJ McCord rounded out the field events for the Bulldogs with his fourth-place jump of 2.03m.

The Bulldogs exhibited significant energy throughout today's meet, and certainly seem to be getting sharper by the week. Their trajectory is looking promising with Ivy Heps only four weeks away. The Bulldogs will travel to Boston next week for the Harvard Select meet as well as the Boston University Scarlet and White meet.

Results from today's meet can be found here.
