Pair of Individuals, Relay Teams Advance to Finals at IC4As

Princeton, N.J. - The second day of competition at the IC4A Championships saw two individuals and two relay teams qualify for Sunday's finals. Outdoor Heps champion Josh Yelsey qualified in the 1500m run with a time of 3:50.01, the fifth-best mark of the day. Shomari Taylor qualified for the 400m hurdles finals with a time of 52.22, the fifth-best time of the day in that event. Also qualifying were Yale's 4x100m relay team (Victor Cheng, Kevin Alexander, Brandon Giles, Russell Kempf) with a time of 41.44 (sixth best in prelims) and Yale's 4x800m relay team (Matthew Bordoni, Reed Mauser, Brian Gertzen, Tadhg O'Callaghan) with a time of 7:31.26, the third-best time of the day.
Yale's 4x400m relay team (Rob deLaski, Shomari Taylor, Chris Tingue, Kevin Alexander) placed 11th (3:12.85) and did not qualify. Giles (10.89) and Cheng (10.92) placed 23rd and 24th in the 100m dash prelims. Giles was also 15th in the 200m dash with a time of 21.85, missing the last qualifying mark by .39 seconds.
Alexander was 14th in the 800m run trials with a time of 48.32, and Dan O'Brien was 20th in the 110m hurdles trials with a time of 14.79.
Overall Yale is 13th after nine events with 11 points. Liberty and Rutgers are tied for the lead with 36 points.
