Relay Team Performance Highlights Ninth-Place Finish at IC4As

Princeton, NJ - Yale's 4x100m relay team posted the best time by a Yale team in over 30 years (41.09) to highlight Yale's weekend at the IC4A Championships. Yale also got a victory from Lucas Meyer in the steeplechase to help the Bulldogs tie for ninth with 30 points.
Meyer topped the 25-man field with a time of 8:44.54, more than six seconds ahead of second-place Ramon Laboy of Iona (8:50.66). Casey Moriarty added an eighth-place finish in the 5000m run (14:21.52).
The 4x100 team (Victor Cheng, Kevin Alexander, Brandon Giles, Russell Kempf) had a time of 41.44 in the trials, then bested that mark with a 41.09 in the finals Sunday -- good for fourth place. Sunday also saw Shomari Taylor place fourth in the 400m hurdles, Josh Yelsey place fifth in the 1500m (3:48.29), and Yale's 4x800m relay team (Courtland Keteyian, Reed Mauser, Christopher Smitson and Tadhg O'Callaghan) place fifth (7:30.01).
In other finals Sunday, Jihad Beauchman placed seventh in the high jump (2.04m) and 20th in the triple jump (14.02m).
Rutgers (76 pts.) won the event.
The Bulldogs will compete at the NCAA Regionals May 27-28 at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island in New York.
