PRINCETON, N.J. - This weekend, the Bulldogs will travel to the IC4A Championships held in Princeton, N.J. The meet, held Fri.-Sun., May 15-17, will bring together NCAA Division-I athletes from around the eastern region to compete for a team title and individual honors in twenty-one events. The IC4A (the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America) has held this meet for 132 years, making it one of the oldest track meets in the United States.
In order to compete at the meet, athletes must meet set qualifying standards . This year, Yale qualified fifteen individuals and all three relays (the 4x100-meter, 4x400-meter and 4x800-meter relays).
Of Yale's qualifiers, those who are entered to compete include sophomore Matt Bogdan (3,000-meter steeplechase), junior Eric DePalo (pole vault), senior Samuel Fox (high jump), senior Jake Gallagher (1,500-meter run), junior Ted Galligan (400-meter hurdles), junior Reynolds Holmes (long jump), senior Murat Kayali (1,500-meter run), senior Jeffrey Lachman (discus throw, hammer throw, shot put), junior Chris Labosky (800-meter run), senior Nathan Noll (discus throw, hammer throw) and junior Jeff Perrella (5,000-meter run).
Friday's competition will include only the decathlon and three distance events: the 3,000-meter steeplechase, the 5.000-meter run and the 10,000-meter run. A complete schedule is available here.
This is the final meet in which Yale's athletes have the opportunity to qualify for the NCAA East Regional Championships at the end of the month. So far, five Bulldogs have qualified for the meet.
