Casey Moriarty named 2005 Track and Field Captain

The Yale men's track and field team recently elected Casey Moriarty (Seattle, WA) to serve as captain for the 2005 season. Moriarty, also a member of the Yale men's cross country team, will captain track during its indoor and outdoor seasons.

Moriarty is one of the Bulldogs' top distance runners. In 2004, he qualified for the 1500 meter run at the IC4A Championships, where he placed 28th (3:56.04). At the 2004 Penn Relays, Moriarty finished seventh in the 5000 meter run (14:22.88). In 2003, Moriarty finished 4th against Harvard in the 5000m and ran personal records of 3:53.67 in the 1500m and 14:50.24 in the 5000m. He was also an IC4A qualifier in the indoor 3000m.

A graduate of O'Dea High School, Moriarty was a Washington state runner-up in the outdoor 3200m.
