Walden Elected Captain for 2010 Season
Perrella Receives Men's Cross Country Award
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Bulldogs hosted their annual banquet on Dec. 7 to recognize several individuals for their contributions in the past season. By a team vote, junior Charles "Max" Walden was selected as captain for next year. Junior Jeff Perrella was also presented with the Mike Stanley-John Cleary Class of 1954 Men's Cross Country Award for his dedication to the team.
Walden has consistently finished in the Bulldogs' top seven at every meet this past fall, including his number two finish at the Iona Meet of Champions. In post-season, he scored as the third runner for the Bulldogs at both the Ivy League Heptagonals and the NCAA Northeast Regional. Walden also earned All-East honors at indoor IC4As last track season by placing sixth in the 5,000-meter run with a PR of 14:23.02. Walden is a history major in Branford College.
Perrella received the Mike Stanley-John Cleary Class of 1954 Men's Cross Country Award, given to "the outstanding member of the Yale men's cross country team who excels in Dedication, Commitment, and Inspiration to the sport of cross country." A 2007 transfer to Yale from the College of William and Mary, Perrella quickly developed into one of the Bulldogs' top runners. He was the Bulldogs' number one finisher at the NCAA Regional, barely missing All-Region honors, and the number two finisher at the Ivy League Heptagonals. Perrella is an Economics major in Saybrook College.
Walden, Perrella and the other members of the men's distance squad will compete at the College Invitational at Coxe Cage on Jan. 9.
