Fall Academic All-Ivy Announced
The Ivy League has released its list of student-athletes selected for 2011 All-Ivy Academic honors in fall sports. Ten Yale student athletes were selected.

Lunn Gets the Nod for Team Captain
Junior Kevin Lunn was elected captain by his teammates for the 2012 season at Thursday’s cross country banquet. He was also honored with the Mike Stanley-John Cleary Class of 1954 Men’s Cross Country Award, given annually to “the outstanding member of the Yale men’s cross country team who excels in Dedication, Commitment, and Inspiration to the sport of cross country.”

Bulldogs End Season at Regionals
In what was their final meet of the season, the Yale men’s cross country team equaled last year's result by notching an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Northeast Region Championship. Yale’s tally of 386 total points placed it in the top third of the 33 participating teams.

Regionals Await Bulldogs
The Yale men’s cross country team travels to Amherst, N.Y., this Saturday to compete in its final guaranteed meet of the season, the NCAA Northeast Region Championship. Hosted by the State University of New York at Buffalo, the race will feature 39 teams vying for an NCAA Championship berth.

Elis Endure Snow and Sludge for a Sixth-Place Finish at Heps
The Yale men’s cross country team braved foul weather conditions to place sixth at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, improving upon last year’s finish by one spot. Junior Kevin Lunn led the way for the Bulldogs for the second week in a row, crossing the line in 25:25. Lunn took 13th place overall, earning second team All-Ivy honors.

Men's Cross Country to Compete at Ivy League Championships
The Yale men’s cross country team will join the other members of the Ancient Eight at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships this Saturday at Princeton. For the Elis, this marks a return to the course upon which they ran their best race of the season two weeks ago. This time, though, the stakes have been raised.

Bulldogs Take Third at Princeton Invitational
The Yale men’s cross country team put in a superb showing on Saturday at the Princeton Invitational. With a total of 107 points, the team placed third in a field of 14, behind only Princeton and Cornell. The race was significant in that it granted the Elis an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the course at which the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships will be held on Oct. 29.

Elis to Warm Up for Heps at the Princeton Invitational
The men’s cross country team will be making the short trip to New Jersey this Saturday to compete in the Princeton Invitational. The level of competition at this event has traditionally been high, and this year’s field is set to feature several of Yale’s Ivy League rivals alongside a number of other regional powers.

Bulldogs Compete at New Englands
In what will surely be one of the largest meets of the season, the Yale men's cross country team placed 17th of 46 squads in the New England Championships. A younger group of athletes wore the Yale blue today, yet two Bulldogs were able to place in the top 30 of 250 athletes. The team combined for 500 points and Connectict won the title with a field-low 139 points. Dartmouth, last year's champion, was second and Brown was 15th. The Bulldogs bested regional rivals Southern Connecticut (28th), Quinnipiac (33rd) and New Haven (36th).

Young Bulldogs Look to Make Their Mark at New Englands
The men’s cross country team will compete at the New England Championships at Boston’s Franklin Park on Saturday. The event, usually one of the largest of the season, is a chance for more athletes on the team to compete, as the majority of the team’s front runners will rest in preparation for the Princeton Invitational (Oct. 15) and Heps (Oct. 29).

Bulldogs Compete in Paul Short Invitational
The Yale men’s cross country team competed in the Paul Short Invitational on Friday, placing 19th of 45 teams. The Bulldogs combined for 565 points, just four behind the 18th-place American University squad and only three in front of host Lehigh University. In all, 402 athletes competed in Bulldogs’ division.

Bulldogs to Compete in Paul Short Invitational
The men’s cross country team will compete in the Paul Short Invitational on Friday, hosted by Lehigh University. 44 other teams will race in the Bulldogs’ division, including the rest of the Ancient Eight. The team will get a chance to see how it stacks up against the rest of the Ivy League, a few weeks before the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships in October.

Bulldogs Second at Harvard
The Bulldogs men’s cross country team faced Harvard on Saturday, and just barely fell to their northern rivals. The team combined for 34 points, just 11 shy of Harvard’s 23 points. The team was lead by senior Sam Lynch, and a front group that consisted of upperclassmen, for the second meet in a row.

Men’s Cross Country to Take on Rival Harvard
On Saturday, the Bulldogs will travel to Boston’s Franklin Park to race the Harvard Crimson in the annual dual meet. The team is coming off of a strong early-season showing at the Fordham Invitational last weekend, where it secured third place out of 16 teams with 88 points. The team stayed close together through much of the race, which proved to be an effective strategy, given the Bulldogs’ results.

Yale Places Third at Fordham
The Yale men’s cross country team posted an impressive third-place finish at the Fordham Follies and Fiasco Invitational on Saturday. Yale’s 88 points were bested only by Princeton (26) and Navy (41). The Bulldogs beat out Penn (4th- 146 points), the only other Ivy team competing, and the rest of the 16-team field.

Men’s Cross Country Team Kicks Off 2011 Season
On Saturday, Sept. 10, the men’s cross country team will compete in its first meet of the season. Fordham University will host the Fordham Fiasco and Follies Invitational at the storied Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. This year, the team welcomes eight new members, including a new head coach; Paul Harkins enters his first year with the Bulldogs, along with seven members of the class of 2015.

Amy Gosztyla Joins Staff as Women’s Cross Country, Middle Distance and Distance Coach
Amy Gosztyla, who spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach at Harvard, has joined the Yale staff as women’s cross country, middle distance and distance coach. David Shoehalter, Yale’s Mark T. Young ’68 Director of Cross Country and Track and Field, made the announcement Thursday.
