WATERFORD, Conn. - Led by a second-place finish from Andrew Pitts, Yale opened the 2006 cross country season by winning the Connecticut College Cross Country Invitational Saturday morning at Harkness Memorial State Park. Pitts' time of 25:15 placed him just behind Trinity's Hunter Norte (24:59). Yale finished with 33 points, well ahead of second-place Southern Connecticut (76 points).
In addition to Pitts' performance, Yale also got four points from Jake Gallagher (25:23), seven points from Murat Kayali (25:35), nine points from Joe Kingsbery (25:36) and 11 points from Maxwell Brown (25:40). Brian Gertzen (25:56) and Andrew Samuel (26:42) also ran for the Bulldogs.
