Dianne Nolan Named Associate Head Coach
35-Year Coaching Veteran Totaled 517 Wins As Head Coach
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Chris Gobrecht, the
Joel E. Smilow, Class of 1954 Head Coach of Women’s
Basketball at Yale has announced that Dianne Nolan has been
promoted to Associate Head Coach. Nolan, a 35-year Division I
coaching veteran, served as an assistant coach on the
Bulldogs’ sidelines for the past two seasons.
“Dianne has done an outstanding job as an assistant coach and
recruiting coordinator,” said Gobrecht. “Her expertise,
years of experience and contacts within the women’s
basketball community have been a tremendous boost to our recruiting
efforts.”
Among the players recruited by Nolan at Yale is Michelle Cashen,
who earned recognition on the All-Ivy Rookie Team in 2008-09. The
incoming Class of 2013 has earned national recognition by the
Collegiate Girls Basketball Report as the top recruiting class in
the Ivy League.
Prior to joining Coach Gobrecht’s staff, Nolan spent 33
seasons as a Division I head coach. In five years at St. Francis
(N.Y.) and 28 at the helm for Fairfield, she has amassed 517 career
victories. Nolan is a five-time MAAC Coach of the Year and led the
Stags of Fairfield to four NCAA Tournaments, including only the
second at-large bid in MAAC history in 2001.
