Three Yalies Now Competing
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Taylor Ritzel '10, who stroked the Yale varsity eight to an NCAA championship in May, has been added to the United States roster for the 2010 World Rowing Championships scheduled for Oct. 31-Nov. 7 in Lake Karapiro, New Zealand. Ritzel will sit in the women's eight.
Ritzel has made an immediate impact for USRowing since graduating from Yale. In July, she stroked the women's eight to a gold medal at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Belarus.
At Yale, Ritzel sat in the varsity eight in each of her four years and helped the Bulldogs to three Ivy League titles and three NCAA varsity eight crowns. She earned CRCA All-America honors three times and served as Yale's captain as a senior.
Ritzel will be one of two former Yale rowers in the U.S. women's eight. Jamie Redman '08 was named to the team a few weeks ago. In addition, Ashley Brzozowicz '04 will compete in the Canadian women's eight.
