No. 9 Bulldogs Fall To No. 3 Michigan, No. 10 Ohio State
Yale's Varsity Four Tops Michigan
COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 9 Yale ran into two of the hottest crews in the nation on Saturday on the Scioto River at Griggs Reservoir. No. 3 Michigan and No. 10 Ohio State showed they are well deserving of their national rankings. In fact, the Buckeyes are likely to make a big jump forward in the rankings as they won all 14 races on the day.
The Bulldogs matched up with the Buckeyes first. In the varsity eight, Ohio State grabbed the early lead and never relinquished it, finishing nearly nine seconds faster than Yale. The Buckeyes had a similar margin of victory in the second varsity, and also won the varsity four, second varsity four and novice eight races.
A few hours later, Yale took on Michigan, which was coming off wins over Princeton and Brown last Saturday. The Bulldogs' varsity four came up big, defeating Michigan 7:20.10 to 7:24.70. The Wolverines, though, captured the varsity eight, second varsity eight, second varsity four and novice eight races.
The Bulldogs return to the Derby Boathouse to race Dartmouth and Cornell next Saturday.
