Crews Will Be Racing For Nat & Anne Case Cup

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Head coach Will Porter has been saying all season that his crews have been improving each week. It certainly appears that the Bulldogs are indeed peaking at the right time. Yale won four of five races against Radcliffe last week, including the varsity eight.

The final regular season race of the season will certainly give the Bulldogs an idea of where they stand heading into the post season. Yale races at defending national champion Brown on Saturday beginning at noon. The crews will be competing for the Nat & Anne Case cup.

"This weekend is a big challenge for us," Porter said. "We need to continue to focus on ourselves and work towards our top end speed. We always look forward to the challenge that racing Brown presents."

Last week's strong performance moved Yale up to 11th in the CRCA/US Rowing National poll. Brown is 10th.

Last year, Brown retained the Nat & Anne Case Cup by winning five races over Yale on the Housatonic River.

Brown's varsity eight edged Yale by a little over five seconds, 6:04.40 to 6:09.80.

After Saturday, both crews will turn their attention to the inaugural Ivy League Championship on May 13 in Cherry Hill, N.J.
