Yale Races Dartmouth, Boston University
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – For the third straight Saturday, the Yale women's crew will race on the Housatonic River at the Gilder Boathouse. The Bulldogs host Dartmouth and Boston University starting with the second varsity four at 7:30 a.m. The varsity eights row at 9:15 a.m. with the winner claiming the Class of 1985 Cup.
Yale, ranked 11th in this week's CRCA-US Rowing national poll, has yet to lose a race this spring. The Bulldogs are coming off a sweep of Cornell last Saturday.
Despite the perfect record, Yale head coach Will Porter has stressed the need for his crews to continue to improve.
"We are looking to take the next step this weekend and find another gear," he said.
The women's races are part of a busy day on the Housatonic. Yale's heavyweights host Dartmouth, while the lightweights face Columbia and Penn.
"It is great to be racing at home with all three Yale teams able to support each other," Porter said. "The boathouse is so united, and I know the athletes enjoy the camaraderie."
