Bulldogs Head To Cayuga Lake Inlet To Face Multiple Crews

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's crew, ranked sixth in this week's CRCA-US Rowing national poll, heads to Upstate New York this weekend for another busy weekend of racing. The Bulldogs face Cornell and Iowa on Friday and Northeastern and Buffalo on Saturday on the Cayuga Lake Inlet. The Yale and Cornell varsity eights will be competing for the Cayuga Cup.

For the second time this season, the Bulldogs will be facing some unfamiliar competition. Yale raced Louisville, Tennessee, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Minnesota, Virginia and Central Florida at the season-opening Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational three weeks ago.

"Racing multiple teams does not alter our approach to the race," said Will Porter, The Friends of YWC Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "We just want to go as fast as we can between the lines regardless of who is next to us."

Racing on Friday against Cornell and Iowa starts at 5 p.m. with the third varsity eight. Yale swept the Big Red last year on the Housatonic River, including a one-second win in the varsity eight to retain the Cayuga Cup.

Cornell and Iowa both received votes in this week's national poll.

Saturday morning, the Bulldogs meet Northeastern and Buffalo. The action starts with the third varsity eight at 7:35 a.m.

Northeastern is competing for the first time this spring, while Buffalo kicked off its spring season at the Murphy Cup last weekend in Philadelphia.
