Bulldogs Knock Off Iowa In Semifinal; Fall To Plymouth/Tideway Scullers In Final
Yale's A entry in the Championship 8 made it all the way to the final at the Henley Women's Regatta in England. The Bulldogs knocked off the University of Iowa in the semifinal on Sunday morning before falling to Plymouth/Tideway Scullers, a crew that is essentially the British Under-23 national team, in the final on Sunday afternoon.
Yale's 1.5-length victory over Iowa in the semifinal avenged a regular-season loss to Hawkeyes back in April on Lake Carnegie in Princeton.
That put the Bulldogs in the final. Yale fought hard but couldn't catch an experienced Plymouth crew.
It was nearly an all Yale final. Yale's B entry also raced in the semifinals but was beaten by Plymouth as well.
Both the Yale A crew and the coxless four that reached the quarterfinals at the Women's Regatta will remain in England and compete in the Royal Henley Regatta, which begins on July 4.
