Harvard, Penn Disqualified For Rules Violations

Yale has been declared the winner of the club eights at the Head of the Charles. Harvard and Penn, which posted faster times on Saturday, were disqualified for rules violations.

"I'm happy for our athletes," Will Porter, The Friends of YWC Head Coach of the Bulldogs, said on Sunday morning. "They earned it. Our goal was to win the event fair and square, and it looks like we did."

The Bulldogs posted a time of 17:10.341.

"Our club eight is a developmental crew comprised of athletes from our third and fourth eights," Porter said on Saturday. "They did well and learned a bit about collegiate racing."

Yale's varsity and second varsity will compete on Sunday in the women's championship eight, which is set to start at 2:26 p.m. The varsity is bow No. 5, while the second varsity is bow No. 12.
