Yale Women’s Crew 40th Anniversary Recap

On April 26, 2014, over 150 alumnae and friends of Yale Women’s Crew gathered at the Gilder Boathouse and on the Yale campus for a day of camaraderie and celebration.  The event included the Yale vs. Radcliffe Race, an alumnae row with 6-eights, a celebratory lunch, speeches and slideshow, and later a special plant-strong dinner with a featured presentation.  In addition, the event marked the final stretch for the Yale Women’s Crew Drive Our Future Endowment – a plan to raise $1.5 million to endow the head coaching position.

The goal to raise $400,000 by the 40th anniversary began two years ago and was achieved in just over a year.  We increased the goal to $500,000 and crushed it to bring the total to over $600,000.  With that achievement, in February, the Gilder family offered a Matching Challenge of $450,000 (to raise a total of $900,000) and bring the drive to $1.5 million, the amount necessary to endow the head coach position.  Please help us meet this challenge that will help sustain the YWC program at the most elite level of training and racing.  Your contribution will “Drive Our Future: with each other, for each other.”
