NEW HAVEN, Conn. - All three Yale crews will be back in action on Sunday at the Eastern Sprints. The women will compete on the Cooper River in New Jersey, while both the lightweights and heavyweights will race on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
The Yale women are seeded second in both the varsity and second varsity eights. The Bulldogs have already captured the Connell, Cuyaga, Case and Nat and Anne Case Cups this spring. The varsity eight has an 11-1 overall record, while the second varsity is 9-1. Yale will learn next Tuesday if it has earned a bid to the NCAA Team Championships for the fourth straight year.
The Yale heavyweight varsity eight and freshman eight are each seeded eighth, while the second varsity is third and the third varsity is the top seed. The Bulldogs have captured the Tony Johnson and Blackwell Cups this spring.
In lightweight action, the Yale varsity eight, third varsity eight and freshman eight are all seeded fourth, while the second varsity is the No. 5 seed. The Bulldogs have won the Dodge, Durand and Joy Cups this spring.
Racing begins at 8 a.m. at both locations. The women's varsity eight grand final is slated for 4:45 p.m. The lightweight eight grand final is at 5:45 p.m. followed by the heavyweight eight grand final at 6 p.m.
