All Yale Boats Qualify For Grand Final After Morning Session Of Eastern Sprints

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The Yale women's crew got off to a strong start at the Eastern Sprints. All five Yale boats won heats to earn a spot in the afternoon Grand Final. In overcast and windy conditions on the Cooper River, the varsity eight finished the 2,000-meter course in 6:43.71, nearly four seconds ahead of second-place Dartmouth. The top two finishers advance. Joining the Bulldogs and Big Green in the Grand Final, which is scheduled for 4:45 p.m., are top-seeded Brown, Northeastern, Princeton and Radcliffe.

Yale's second varsity easily won its heat with a time of 6:55.72, more than 10 seconds faster than second-place Boston University. The Bulldogs will race BU, Brown, Dartmouth, Princeton and Radcliffe in the Grand Final at 4:10 p.m.

The varsity four finished first in its heat with a time of 7:38.54. Yale races Radcliffe, Brown, Navy, Dartmouth and Princeton in the Grand Final at 3:30 p.m.

The novice eight cruised to a 10-second victory, finishing with a time of 7:07.43. The Bulldogs race Dartmouth, Brown, Columbia, Cornell and Syracuse in the Grand Final at 2:40 p.m.

In the second varsity four, the Bulldogs won with a time of 7:35.13. Joining Yale in the Grand Final is Princeton, Boston University, Brown, Radcliffe and Syracuse.
