May 23, 2007
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The CRCA has released many of its post season awards, and not surprisingly Yale is very well represented. Head Coach Will Porter was named the New England Coach of the Year, while Kate Maloney was selected as the Assistant Coach of the Year. Emily Cleveland, Tess Gerrand, Rachel Jeffers and Jamie Redman all earned first team All-New England honors, while Taylor Ritzel was a second team selection. In addition, Cleveland, Redman, Lee Glandorf, Christine Glandorf and Suzanne Salgado were named Scholar Athletes.
Porter earned Coach of the Year honors for the fourth time. He guided the varsity eight to a 12-0 record during the dual-race season. The Bulldogs then captured the Eastern Sprints and Ivy League titles and have earned a berth in the NCAA Championships for the sixth consecutive year. Maloney coached the novice eight to an 8-2 record and a third-place finish in the Grand Final at the Eastern Sprints.
Yale arrived in Tennessee on Tuesday night and will begin competition in the NCAA Championships on Friday.
