Yale Competes at Collegiate Championships

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Yale women's fencing team took home a pair of sixth-place finishes and a seventh-place finish at the inaugural United States Collegiate Squad Championships Sunday at NYU.

The Yale epee squad of freshman Alison Barton, junior Alexia Cesar, senior Tasha Garcia and sophomore Robyn Shaffer placed sixth with a win over Haverford in the consolation bracket.

The Yale foil squad of sophomore Zoe Egelman, freshman Emily Hong and freshman Linda Zhou placed seventh.

The Yale saber squash of freshman Laura Benoit, sophomore Madeline Oliver, freshman Lucy Partman and freshman Brenda Seah placed sixth.

"We had a tough day," said Oliver, "but I'm looking forward to our team improving and having a great season next year. I'm really proud of everyone's performance and I know all the squads did a great job supporting each other."

The Bulldogs will next compete in the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships on March 13.
