Back Home Against Sacred Heart
Hope to Repeat Last Year's Victory
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's fencing team will look to rebound after a tough NYU Invitational last weekend as it takes on Sacred Heart at Payne Whitney Gymnasium on Jan. 28.
In particular, the Bulldogs will look to reprise their strong performance in last year's match-up against the Pioneers; then, the team drew on vocal home crowd support on its way to a powerful 19-8 victory. This year, both teams are among others receiving votes in the most recent national poll of collegiate fencing teams.
That result included 6-3 records for both the sabre and foil weapons squads, and an outstanding 7-2 record for the epee squad. If the team can achieve such results, it would certainly put itself in a strong position in the lead-up to the Feb. 11-12 Ivy League Championships, hosted this year at home at Coxe Cage.
After taking on Sacred Heart, the Bulldogs will face off against Vassar at home on Feb. 4.
