Bulldogs Take Eighth Place
Competing at the Highest Level Against Tough Opposition
NEW YORK – At the second United Stated Collegiate Squad Championships in New York on Feb. 26, the Yale women's fencing notched up an eighth-place finish.
The Bulldogs shared the spot with host NYU; both teams scored a total of 72 points by the end of the day's competition. Up the top of the leaderboard was Ivy League rival Princeton, which dominated the competition to finish the day with 192 points — 60 ahead of second-place Northwestern.
For Yale's team, it was a difficult day's competition against strong opposition. The Bulldogs' epee weapons squad finished in eighth place, while the foil and sabre weapons squads finished in ninth and 13th place, respectively.
At last year's Collegiate Squad Championships, the Yale team's epee squad placed sixth overall, the foil squad placed seventh and the sabre squad finished in sixth.
With the Collegiate Squad Championships at a close, the Bulldogs have a two week break before the NCAA Northeast Regionals on March 11.
