Miller Sits in Fifth in Epee After First Day
PROVIDENCE, R.I.—A tough day of competition for the Yale women's fencing team on Saturday left it in seventh place at the Feb. 8-9 Ivy League Championship, held this year at Brown in Providence, R.I.
The Bulldogs finished the day with a 0-4 record, after difficult match-ups against Harvard (23-4), Penn (21-6) and Princeton (26-1), and a narrow loss to Brown (14-13). Princeton leads after day one with a 4-0 record.
Sophomore Katherine Miller was the best performing Yale fencer on Saturday; she sits in fifth place in epee competition with a 0.700 percentage. Junior captain Lauren Miller closed the day in 11th place in foil competition, while freshman Joanna Lew finished in 13th place in saber competition.
Yale will face Columbia and Cornell on Sunday, with round robin competition commencing at 10:00 a.m.
