Yale Remains Undefeated in Ivies

Jan. 29, 2005

The Bulldogs remained unbeaten in the Ivy League with a 15-12 defeat of Penn at Payne Whitney Gym. The Elis dropped their epee bouts 5-4 but won in foil and saber to win the contest.

In saber, Yale's Sada Jacobson went 3-0, while Erin Frey took two bouts and Carly Guss won once to give Yale the 6-3 victory in that weapon.

In the foil, Alisa Mendelsohn won twice, as did Diana Schawlowski. Jessica Dobbins earned one victory, which was enough for Yale to pull out the 5-4 win.

The Elis fell 5-4 in epee, but captain Erica Korb won all her bouts. Anne Nyugen added a win.

Yale takes on Ivy foes Columbia and Brown next weekend in their quest for the title.
