Feb. 24, 2008

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Bulldog fencers claimed sixth in the Three-Weapon Team Competition at Sunday's IFA Championships, hosted in New York, N.Y. Sophomore Rebecca Moss had the best day individually, finishing fourth in the Individual Epee Championships. The women's 47-51 record helped Yale to a fifth place finish in the Six-Weapon Team Competition (98-90).

Penn (75-32), Columbia (68-30) and Harvard (68-30) claimed first, second and third in the Three-Weapon Team competition. Weapon squad championship results were not available late Sunday night and will be updated as they become available.

Moss advanced to the bronze medal match of the Individual Epee Championships but lost the closely-fought, 15-14 match to NYU's Samantha Frons. The fourth place finish was a repeat of the sophomore's performance during her freshman campaign.

Yale will head to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships on Mar. 2.
