The women's fencing team posted two top-eight finishes at the 2003 Penn State Open, held from November 15-16 in State College, PA. Erica Korb was Yale's top overall finisher, placing fifth in the epee, while Alisa Mendelsohn came in seventh in the final standings in foil.
Following Mendelsohn in the foil event were Bulldogs Justine Aw, who came in 16th, and Isadora Botwinick, who finished 33rd. Aliczya Kryczalo from Notre Dame won the event.
In the epee division, Korb was followed in the standings by Tejas Srinivas, who finished in 32nd place, and Kate Burghardt in 40th. Wayne State's Anna Garina earned the first place victory.
In saber, Penn's Annika Eiremo was the champion. Yale's showing in the division was led by Carly Guss, who came in 16th, and followed by Genny Tauxe and Shannon Murtagh, who were 26th and 32nd respectively. Qing Wang came in 35th overall.
The Bulldogs travel to New York University on Tuesday, Dec. 2 for a dual meet.
