Yale Newcomers Playing in Big Tourneys

Park to Play in US Women's Open

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Sun Park (Vail, Ariz.), who joins the Yale Women's Golf Team as a freshman this fall, is set to play in the 2010 U.S. Women's Open from July 5-11 at the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa.

Park qualified at the Industry Hills Golf Course in City of Industry, Calif., earlier this month. She shot a first-round 71 and followed with a 72 en route to a one-under par 143 and a fifth-place finish.

Park has won 11 Arizona tournaments and has finished in the top-five in all but three events since 2005.

Seo Hee Moon (Mukilteo, Wash.), also a member of the Yale class of 2014, joins Park and 152 other golfers from June 21-26 at the 2010 U.S. Open Women's Amateur Public Links Championship at the Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame, Ind.

Moon was introduced to the sport at the age of three and became famous in her home state. She won the 2007 Coca-Cola Junior Championship and the 2009 PNGA Junior Girls Amateur Championship. She was runner-up in the PNGA event in 2006 and 2007.

Yale Women's Golf Head Coach Chawwadee Rompothong is thrilled with the additions to her team.

“I am elated to have Sun Park and Seo Hee Moon join our Bulldog family this fall. Both freshmen will be able to add to the depth and strength of the team. Sun and Seo Hee are well rounded individuals who are committed to excellence on and off the course. They will be able to make an immediate impact on our scoring average and I am excited for next season and the future of Yale golf.”
