Moon Leading the Way for Bulldogs After Day Two

Moon Leading the Way for Bulldogs After Day Two

After the second round at the NCAA East Regional, the Bulldogs are tied for 21st with Texas Tech, having posted a second-day combined 609 Friday. Freshman Seo Hee Moon is Yale's best individual finisher, tied for 33rd at +4 on the tournament, just eight strokes back of the leader, Florida State's Jessica Negron.

"The course is not very forgiving, as many of us found out over the first two days." Yale captain Alyssa Roland said. "Most of the fairways are surrounded by a hazard of some sort, so if you aren't hitting it straight the course is especially challenging."

Roland seemed to have little trouble navigating the course Friday, as she turned in Yale's round of the day, firing a 72 to leave her at 154, tied for 80th, after 36 holes. Freshman Sun Gyoung Park, who had the Bulldogs' top round yesterday with a 72, followed that up with a 79, leaving her tied for 54th. Sophomore Joy Kim (82,84) is tied for 118th overall, and, despite nearly getting attacked by an alligator midway through her round, senior Harriet Owers-Bradley turned in an 87 to place herself 121st through two days.

"I am particularly impressed with both of our freshmen, Seohee and Sun." Roland said of the first two rounds. "Seohee has played very consistent golf over the past two days and Sun has been on the brink of going under par both rounds. They have proved that they are a couple of the best players in the country and are capable of competing with top ranked individuals."

The team leader through two days is the University of Alabama, who has played to a two-day score of -5 overall. North Carolina (-1) and defending national champion Purdue sits in third (+4). The top eight finishers move on to the national tournament.

The final round gets underway tomorrow morning at 8 a.m., though the Bulldogs will take to the course with the afternoon groups, beginning around 1 p.m.
