The Yale women's golf team heads to State College, Pa. this weekend for the Nittany Lion Invitational. The Bulldogs are coming off a fourth-place finish at their own Yale Intercollegiate last weekend, a tournament in which reigning Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Year Seo Hee Moon took home the individual title. Moon won a playoff with Harvard's Tiffany Lin, using an opening-round 69 to pick up right where she left off in 2010-11.
Coach Chawwadee Rompothong '00's squad for this weekend's tourney will feature Moon and classmate Sun Gyoung Park, who tied for 21st last weekend with junior Alex Lipa, who will also be a part of the Yale five this weekend. Captain Lily Boettcher also posted a top-50 finish last weekend, and will aim to help the Bulldogs better their sixth-place showing last year in State College.
Helping that cause will be the addition of a freshmen class that has already shown great promise this season. Shreya Ghei and Marika Liu both posted top-20 finishes (11th and 19th, respectively) in excellent collegiate debuts last weekend. Classmate Caroline Rouse also finished in the top 50, including a strong final round 79.
The Nittany Lion Invitational, which is traditionally one of the most competitive tournaments the Bulldogs play all season, is the second of four tournaments Yale will play this fall.
