The Yale women's golf team bettered its leaderboard position with a strong showing in Saturday's second round of the Rio Verde invitational at Quail Run Golf Course in Rio Verde, Arizona. The climb - a move from 15th to 14th overall and fewer than ten strokes out of a place in the top ten - was sparked by the illuminating performances of dynamic sophomore duo Seo Hee Moon and Sun Gyoung Park, who shot rounds of 76 and 75, respectively.
Park is the Bulldogs' top scorer so far and is tied for twentieth overall after posting a 79 in round one and a 75 Saturday. Despite an opening-round 84, Moon broke into the top 50 with her round of 76.
Junior Joy Kim matched her score from Friday's action with a second-round 82. Kim is tied for 65th in the individual standings, just two spots ahead of captain Lily Boettcher, who posted and 81. Her classmate Callie Kemmer also improved on Friday's scores, tallying a second-round 83.
The Bulldogs look to continue their ascent of the Rio Verde leaderboard Sunday in the third-round of the tournament.
