Park Wins Hardee's Collegiate Championship
Victory in Perdido Bay
PENSACOLA, Fla. — Junior Sun Gyoung Park claimed victory in the Aug. 6-8 Hardee's Collegiate Invitational, which concluded Wednesday at the Perdido Bay Golf Club here in Pensacola, Fla.
Park won the three-day tournament after shooting three impressive rounds of 69, 74 and 77. Her victory in the competition earned her and the Yale women's golf team an $1000 award.
This is not the first high-level event Park has competed in this summer. From July 31-Aug. 2, Park and teammate sophomore Caroline Rouse finished in 25th place at the Pure Silk Women's Collegiate Team Championship.
Last season, Park was a co-recipient of the Widdy Neale Award, given annually to the player who does the most to boost the morale of the team and who goes the extra step both on and off the course. That award came after Park made the first-team All-Ivy this year, powering her way through the Ivy League Championship to finish in outright third place.
