Competitive Field Awaits in Gaithersburg
NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Back in the northeast after a spring break tour to the south, the Yale women's golf team will compete this weekend at the Apr. 8-9 Hoya Invitational in Gaithersburg, Md.
Hosted by Georgetown at The Member's Club at Four Streams Golf Course, the Hoya Invitational will pit the Bulldogs against some tough competition from across the nation. The 14-team field, including Ivy League rivals Brown and Penn, will play on the par-72, 6,127-yard course, set amidst the Maryland farmland.
The Bulldogs will enter the competition on the heels of a successful spring break tour that took them to Florida, where they played a scrimmage against Seton Hall and found victory in a match against Lehigh and Richmond, and Virginia, where they notched up a sixth-place finish at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate.
Last year, Yale finished in eighth place overall at the Hoya Invitational with a combined 54-hole score of 974. Best scorers were juniors Sun Gyoung Park and Seo Hee Moon, who finished in a tie for 13th and a tie for 16th, respectively.
The field will tee off Monday morning starting at 9 a.m. and play 36 holes on the opening day of competition. Golfers will wrap up the final 18 holes starting Tuesday at 9 a.m.
