Yale in Second After Day One
Seven Strokes Behind Tournament Leader
GAITHERSBERG, Md. — Two rounds of play into the Apr. 8-9 Hoya Invitational, the Yale women's golf team is well poised in second place with 18 holes left to play Tuesday.
Hosted by Georgetown at The Member's Club at Four Streams Golf Course here in Gaithersberg, Md., the tournament pits the Bulldogs against a 14-team field including Ivy League rivals Brown and Penn. Yet amid that strong field, the Yale team played diligent golf throughout the day to finish at 611, just seven strokes behind tournament leader Campbell, who finished at 604.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs is junior Seo Hee Moon, who shot 148 to finish the day in fourth place. Close behind her is sophomore Shreya Ghei, who notched up 151 for the day to end the day in seventh place.
Last year, Yale finished in eighth place overall at the Hoya Invitational with a combined 54-hole score of 974. Best scorers were juniors Sun Gyoung Park and Moon, who finished in a tie for 13th and a tie for 16th, respectively.
Golfers will wrap up the final 18 holes starting Tuesday at 9 a.m.
