Atop Leaderboard After Day One
Three Strokes Clear
BARRINGTON, R.I. — The Yale women's golf team is sitting atop the leaderboard after a thrilling Sunday round out here in Barrington, R.I., at the Apr. 14-15 Brown Invitational.
With one round of play remaining on Monday, the Bulldogs sit three strokes clear of second-place Harvard. Yale fired an opening round 309 while Harvard shot 312. The two Ancient Eight rivals are part of a 14-team field here at the Rhode Island Country Club, a field that also includes Brown, Columbia and Dartmouth.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs is junior Sun Gyoung Park, who put up a diligent +3 during a tough scoring day to sit in a tie for first place. Close behind Park is sophomore Marika Liu, who closed in a tie for ninth place with a +5. Junior Seo Hee Moon is in a tie for 13th at +6.
The Bulldogs are poised to improve upon their performance last year at the Brown Invitational, where they finished in fourth place despite shooting the second day low round. Moon was Yale's best performer at last year's tournament, finishing in fourth overall.
Golfers will tee off on Monday with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
