Yale sits 4th after first round
Pinehurst, N.C.-- After the first round of play at the Pinehurst Invitational, the Yale women's golf team sits in fourth place with a score of 327 (+39). First year Ami Gianchandani leads the team after shooting a 73 (+1), the best round of the day.
The three-day event takes place on Pinehurst No. 8, a 72 par, 7,099 yard course. Five other strong teams make up this week's field including: UNC Asheville, BU, Cleveland State, Dayton, Southern New Hampshire, and St. John's.
Gianchandani has a four-stroke lead heading into the second round. Teammate Coco Chai also had a solid first round with a round of 82 (+10), which puts her tied for 10th.
Only six strokes separate the Elis from UNC Asheville, currently leading with a score of 321 (+33).
