NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Chawwadee Rompothong, a 2000 Yale graduate who was a three-time All-Ivy golfer and helped the Bulldogs to three Ivy League titles, has been named the interim head coach of the Yale women's golf team, Athletic Director Tom Beckett announced today.
Mary Moan, who has guided the Bulldogs to two Ivy League titles in her five years, will remain head coach but is taking a leave of absence to pursue a professional career.
Rompothong, who served as an assistant coach for the Bulldogs this spring, earned All-Ivy honors in 1997, 1999 and 2000. She finished fourth at the Ivy League championship in both 1999 and 2000 and was sixth in 1997.
After Yale, she turned professional and competed on the Futures Tour in 2001 and 2002. In 2003, she enrolled in the PGA Professional Golf Management Program and became a PGA certified Golf Professional.
Rompothong also has worked at the Pinehurst Resort, home of the 1999 and 2005 men's U.S. Open, and as a teaching professional at Montammy Golf Club in Alpine, N.J.
