New Haven, CT - Yale recently earned a stellar pair of rankings from Golf Digest in the magazine's 2005-06 College Golf Guide. In the women's academic-first ranking of "Best Colleges for Golf", Yale took second in the country behind Princeton. The Bulldogs were third in the men's academic-first ranking, trailing only Emory and Princeton.
The magazine noted both the pros Yale has produced (European tour winner Peter Teravainen and PGA tour player Bob Heintz) along with the Course at Yale ("It has two of the most notorious holes in golf: the par-3 ninth, which has a 60-yard-deep green bisected by an eight-feet deep swale, and the par-5 18th, which plays over a large hill and requires three excellent shots to reach the green.").
Yale also was 24th in the magazine's balanced rankings for women's golf, making it the second-highest Ivy in that category (Princeton was 21st).
